Recently I came across a photo of a bald, fat guy in an operetta uniform and moustache.
The headline called him bálint hóman and the news announced that the city of Székesfehérvár will erect him a monument opposite a gymnasium.
bálint hóman was minister for ‘Religion and Education’ from 1932-1938 and 1941-1945 and author and researcher of Hungarian history.
And:
- one of the main architects and enforcer of the Hungarian ‘Judengesetze’.
- as a minister responsible for deportations and massacres in 1941/42 committed on the territories controlled by Hungary.
- a main supporter of the early collaboration with Nazi Germany.
- an active participant of the 1944 coup d'etat that put the nazis formally in power in 1944.
- active supporter of the prolongation of the war.
- as part of the nazi government under the nazi ferenc szálasi involved in the final deportation of the Jews of Budapest.
Todays government stinks as much as the one some 70 years ago.
